Pokémon GO Level Changes: Level Cap Hits 80 + New Daily Adventure Egg
Pokémon GO is about to get a major overhaul. On October 15, 2025, Niantic will raise the Trainer level cap from 50 to 80, rebalancing progression, changing level-up research, and adding fresh incentives like the Daily Adventure Egg.

What's Changing: Cap, Curve & Rewards
Under the new system, XP thresholds across levels will be reworked so that leveling feels more frequent and rewarding. All prior XP you've earned gets mapped into the new curve, and no one will be demoted in level. Players who were at level 23 or above may gain at least one level automatically upon the change.
One big shift: the Level-Up Research tasks currently tied to levels 41–50 are being removed. Instead, new research tasks will be introduced for levels 71–80.
As you level, expect new rewards: increased storage for Pokémon, items, Gifts, and Postcards, plus new avatar cosmetics (starting as early as level 25) tied to milestone levels. Also, once you hit level 70 or above, your chances of becoming Lucky Friends with other players will be boosted.
GameSpot confirms the XP numbers for key levels under the new system:
Level 50: ~12,753,000 XP
Level 60: ~34,353,000 XP
Level 70: ~85,853,000 XP
Level 80: ~203,353,000 XP
These figures give you a sense of the climb ahead.

Daily Adventure Egg: A New Daily Habit
One of the most player-friendly additions is the Daily Adventure Egg. Once you reach level 15, you'll be eligible. Each day you log in, one egg is placed in a special incubator (separate from your regular egg storage). Walk 1 km, and it'll hatch, giving you 10,000 XP plus a Pokémon. You can hold only one Daily Adventure Egg at a time, and it doesn't count toward your normal egg capacity.

This feature is designed to reward daily logins and walking, giving players a consistent reason to open the app and get some distance in.
Tips & Strategy: How to Prepare
1. Reach Level 50 Before October 15
If you hit level 50 before the update, you'll lock in legacy rewards—like the Level 50 Jacket and associated avatar items—before they become unobtainable via leveling.
2. Take Advantage of XP Bonuses
From August 25 to October 14 (before the update), Pokémon GO is running an XP Celebration with boosted rewards:
·Double XP on Nice/Great/Excellent throws
·+3,000 XP bonuses for winning raids or Max Battles
·A Timed Research granting over 7 million XP
These stack with other bonuses.
3. Plan for Research Removal
Since tasks for levels 41–50 are going away, don't procrastinate on completing them if you're in that range. Once the shift happens, those tasks will no longer exist.
4. Use the Daily Adventure Egg Efficiently
From October 15 onward, make sure to log in daily and walk at least 1 km to hatch the Daily Adventure Egg for easy XP gains.
5. Watch for Jumped Levels
Once the update hits, some players may “jump” levels automatically based on their total stored XP. Keep an eye on your new level and the rewards you receive.
Final Thoughts
This leveling overhaul is one of the boldest changes in Pokémon GO's history. The jump from level 50 to 80 isn't just cosmetic—it reshapes how we approach XP, daily routines, and rewards. With the Daily Adventure Egg, rebalanced curves, and fresh rewards at every step, Niantic is trying to make the climb more engaging for both casual and hardcore Trainers.
