MapGenie is a fan-made companion app for Red Dead Redemption 2, built around a detailed RDR2 map. Instead of switching between outside guides or keeping notes in another tab, players can open the app and quickly locate important places across the game world. The map is designed for collectors and explorers who want more structure during their playthroughs.
Gameplay
There are more than 800 marked locations in the map, including treasure spots, collectibles, rare weapons, easter eggs, and animal spawns. These points are split into 50 categories, so you can switch from legendary animals to cigarette cards without losing track of your objective. A quick search option helps you jump directly to any named location, and the progress tracker records what you have already found. You can also add notes to the map to remember interesting spots or unfinished tasks.
Because the app syncs with rdr2map.com, the same progress appears wherever you decide to continue your hunt. This is useful when you are moving between sessions and do not want to recheck every marker. The filters let you focus on one category at a time, which makes large areas feel manageable. Categories such as Strangers give the map a role beyond simple navigation, since they lead players toward characters and side content that are easy to miss.
Visuals & Experience
The interface keeps the map readable even with many active markers. Search and category controls are positioned so the list of locations stays in the background until you need it. This reduces the amount of menu switching during gameplay. The layout is practical, and the app feels like a reference tool rather than an additional layer of distraction.
